About Dr. Chun Zhou
Dr. Zhou obtained an M.D. and Ph.D. in P. R. China. He conducted research in life science at renowned institutions, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Columbia University. He has over twenty publications of original research articles, reviews, and book chapters, including those in seminal journals such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS), Current Biology, and Nature Neuroscience. Dr. Zhou currently holds a tenured, full-time position as an associate professor at Mercy University.
Dr. Zhou studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture as part of his medical studies in China. In September 2020, he resumed his study in acupuncture at the New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (NYCTCM). At NYCTCM, Dr. Zhou was trained according to the U.S. standards of acupuncture practice. Notably, Dr. Zhou started his clinical acupuncture experience in May 2021 for three years. During these years of rigorous clinical practice as an intern, Dr. Zhou treated or participated in treating over 500 patients mainly by following three well-known clinical professors at NYCTCM who are experienced in treating infertility, pain of neuromuscular systems using classical Chinese acupuncture, and dysregulated body homeostasis of the immune, digestive, and/or endocrine systems using unique approaches derived from the Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic, respectively. In addition, Dr. Zhou investigated the different acupuncture styles of the Masters of Acupuncture in modern times of China and took their online courses or training.
As a result, Dr. Zhou integrates conventional Chinese acupuncture styles into the standards of the acupuncture field in the U.S. Finally, Dr. Zhou's Western medical training and research experiences enable him to understand patients' medical conditions and ancient acupuncture methods from contemporary Western medicine's perspective, conduct acupuncture treatments using approaches and methods supported by modern clinical research, and complement patients' Western medical treatments with his acupuncture treatment.
